Thor would win.
Lets forget for a moment that Thor possess the Odinforce which is a hell of alot more power than Doomsday had at his disposal.
Lets also remember that while Thors lightning is conjured by magic, it is still just lightning, a force of nature and not something that would harm Superman.
Thor caa manipulate the fabric of the cosmos by spinning Mjolnir, which of course, can open portals to other dimensions. Some of which certainly have red suns.
Superman is no more powerful than your average mortal when near a red sun.
Now I know no one would argue wether or not Thor could defeat a mortal, even a smart one, so the question becomes could Thor manuver superman into one of these portals.
The answer is yes. Thors strength is at least as great as Supermans.(In truth it is probably a LOT greater, but lets just say similar for arguments sake) If you smash two concrete blocks together a bunch of times they are BOTH going to crack. The same is true on Superman and Thor. They would debilitate one another for a long time and eventually both would weaken.
Once weakened it would basically become a wrestling match. Because Thor can make the portals appear anywhere the odds would be in his favor and he would eventually be able to manuver Superman into a different, less hospitable dimension.....
Now I know what you are thinking.........
Thor probably doesn't realize that Superman is weakened by a red sun. That may be true, but , Thor is a hero, and he would be aware that a "to the death" battle between two such powerful foes would be more than the Earth (or any planet) could withstand.
It is there fore reasonable to assume that he would almost immediatley try to take super man to the negative zone or the void right away. Neither of those places has a sun, so right away Thor wins............
So even if he doesn't realize that a red sun would weaken Superman chances are he would still win.
Now without dimensional travel it would be more of a "fair fight" but eventually Superman, who does require rest, is going to become fatigued, Thor would simply draw more heavily from the Odinforce and continue battling at his peak.
It is also important to remember that Superman HAS been broken before, while Thor has not.
It'd be a hell of a fight, but in the end, Thor would be triumphant.

It's not even close. Thor in a landslide.
Thor is a God, as other posters have said here, with the full power of Odinforce and Mjolinir. Thor has no known mortal weaknesses.
Superman, while possesor of great power, speed, etc. etc, has a weakness - kryptonite - when exposed to long enough can not only hurt him, but can kill him.
Additionally, Superman's powers are based upon the yellow sun. Thor's magical abilities could do many things including turning the Sun red or transport Superman into another dimension with a red sun, thus making him powerless.
Sorry Supes, but don't cross the God of Thunder.
Superman would also lose to a number of other Marvel characters - Silver Surfer, Jean Grey, Galactus, Dr. Strange, Dr. Fate, Scarlet the Red Witch, Charles Xavier, Magneto - the list goes on. Any character that has magical, psychic or magnetic abilities would have a better than fare chance of stopping him.

Finally the real match up question, not the Hulk Superman one we always seem to get.
These two would be much more evenly matched. Both have strenght and other powers.
When Thor last appeared in the Marcel Universe (almost two years ago) he had the Odin Power so he would easily win. With his regular powers it would be closer but I still give the edge to Thor as superman is vulnerable to magic and Thor's hammer allows him to transport himself and others across space and time so he could simply take Superman to a Red Sun world and defeat him there where he has no powers

Thor does not have a healing factor, due to his Asgardian physiology as well as being the son of Odin he is just more hardy than the average resident of Asgard. They may well heal at a greater rate than average humans but if you notice , Odin has never grown his eye back nor Tyr regrown his hand. In addition Kal-El does not have super intelligence , this is evident by the fact that in the Justice League technology matters are usually handled by either Batman, The Martian Manhunter, The Atom, Steel, with assistance from Mr.Terrific. To answer your question, Superman would eventually win though it would be a tremendous battle. He has multiple advantages powerwise but Thor's powers being mystically in nature bring them a little bit closer to even. Fans of Superman say he's much stronger, but in Norse mythology Thor lifted the Midgard serpent a reptile so big it encircled the entire Earth.

I would say Thor. Even though Superman is powerful he would still get hurt badly after a smack from Thor's hammer with the help of lightning on it. and Thor is a God.

I've gotta go against the grain here and give it to Thor. My reason being that Thor's powers are all derived from Asgardian magic and besides kryptonite magic is Supermans biggest vulnerability.

not counting the odinforce, superman would pound thor into the ground...
the hulk once beat thor to a bloody pulp, and superman is easily 10 times stronger than the hulk, 1000 times faster and just as resilient if not more so...

Thor is a god and he does have amazing powers but isn't Superman faster. Speed would really help in this fight.
But put those two in the world of Saiyans and they'd get creamed!
