I have noticed in a lot of sports that the women want to compete with men. Golf, Basketball, Football etc. Why can't they be satisfied with their own league. Then you have women who try to compare it with the civil rights movement. Whats going on?

Competition in athleticism is about defeating your oponent/your personal best. Some women are perfectly capable of competing with men in sports ..... so why not? Why does competition betwixt equitably built coeds bother you? BTW, women aren't 'satisfied' with their own league because they're held to lower physical standards than are men. Those women who can perform competitively with men feel patronized by this .... and want to move on to more the more challenging league. They're pursuing their personal best .... so shut up about it. Personally, I think that sports should be divided into leagues along the lines of size and capability, not necessarily gender. There would be no exceptions that way, as there are now.....

In the beginning of women sports they never got real exposure. So they started competing with men as men were the ones saying women sports are not real sports. In the beginning it was just for women to be excepted in the sports world. Later the women rights movement used this as a issue to also get exposure. And since the americans dont know when to stop - it goes on and on and on .............................

I believe that living in such a male dominated society, that women have felt repressed for so long that they (not all but some) feel the need to compete with men on all forums including sports.

Sexism is just as offensive to women as racism is to African Americans...
How would you feel if there were separate leagues for blacks and whites, and people said "why can't you be satisfied with your ***** league?"
Having separate events is inherently unequal.
Yes, I am comparing it to the civil rights movement because they are comparable social injustices...gender and race are two things people don't have control over, and no one wants to be judged by something they can't control about themselves.

You are mistaken. If women feels so that reflects their self confidence, which we must welcome. It is a welcome sign that women are not inferior and ready to compete with men. Afterall women want to show their skills by competing men, but not otherwise.This is nothing wrong if they prove their merit in open competition.
