Don't be paranoid... it's like anything else... you're paying for the name-brand. Quite often they're made in the same plant, just labelled differently. I waited until my baby was 3 months old, then switched her to the store-brand formula. She actually enjoyed it more, and her digestive system accepted it better.
Go ahead and give it a try, making sure you switch from one formula to another slowly. There's usually directions on how to transition to other formulas on the label.

We are always told store brands are of equal quality, and I tend to think they probably are - and yet, if it were my baby I'd go with the Enfamil or other "brand name" as well.
Every once in a while there has been the occasional scare about baby formula. Once there was one lot of it that apparently lacked some nutrients. When my pediatrician told me it was safe to go back and forth between brands from time to time (as long as the baby wasn't switched from no-iron to iron willy-nilly) I made it a point to change from Similac to Enfamil or back every once in a while just so I'd know that my baby had only been on one brand for x number of weeks at a time.
I figured that would minimize the disaster should someone discover that one lot or another of one of the formulas was missing nutrients (or had some other problem).
I've often had concerns about the quality control on some store-brand products, although I would think if a store signs on with a baby formula company to have the formula packaged in the store's name it is probably absolutely fine and must have to meet some standard.
Again, though, I didn't trust any one company for too long a period of time all at once - but maybe I was just being super-careful.

The Store does NOT manufacture Formula. Most likely if they Stocking Enfamil then that who made the Store Brand. I refer to it as "Outsourcing" may not be the correct word. Many companies like Kellogg's makes products for other Store and put it in a box labeled by the Store Name or Other Supplier. I watch a History channel on Candy I think and this one manufacture packaged their candy for about 20 different Suppliers, each in it's prospective box. Sears Kenmore Washing Machines are made by Whirlpool, or, they once where.
The link is About.com it give you some insight. You may get a pop-up if your Blocker not on. This how they make their money to provide us with information. If it pop-up click the X in top right to close and look at your bottom Task Bar to be sure it did not minimize.

All the generics (no matter what store brand is pasted on the label) are made by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. The formulas are based on a slightly older version of either Enfamil or Similac. There is no nutritional advantage to the brand name, so if your baby is happy with the store brand, save yourself some money and use it.

I used the Wal Mart brand of Enfamil Gentle ease, and they never had it. My baby took to it very well after I switched to it from enfamil. So, now I am using Good start, easy to digest. And he is doing well with it also. I think it's fine to use it. I have several friends doing the same thing, and their babies are fine.

We have bought the store brand quite a few times because formula is so expensive. IT IS THE EXACT SAME THING. So if there's a generic available, go for it. You will save lots of money in the long run.

My daughter also did much better on Good Start. Her poo was very runny on the Enfamil, and she spit up a lot. When the store was out of Enfamil, I got the Good Start instead, and she did much better. Plus its half the price!

With my first child I could only use store brand formula due to that was the one one he wouldn't throw up or get constipated on . There is no differance . I like the Parents choice .

We are foster parents so we go through a lot of formula.... my personal favourite is good start........... it is reasonably priced and has almost all the same ingredients as the more expensive brands. One baby we have now was on emfamil and he always spit up during and after a feeding. I switched him to good start and he is doing much better. He is healthy smart and energetic

They are the same thing. some story brands are ok, like Parents Choice ((walmart)). but if you on WIC then you will need to get prescripyion from a doc.
they are the same. it NEVER hurts to try. my son prefers store brands over anything.
