2007 Chevy Silverado
Watched a program about it on PBS Motor-week a few weeks ago. Completely redesigned for the 2007 model year.
The Eaton E80 locking differential sets it apart from all others. Chevy and GMC are the only trucks with this. When the computer senses a wheel spin, it completly locks the rear axels together so both rear tires get power. This is not like the more common limited slip and positraction which still allows slippage between the 2 axels.
The demonstration at the Eaton proving grounds was impressive. They got a 2007 Ford 4 wheel drive stuck on the test track with the right front and the left rear tires off the ground. The tires that were off the ground were spinning and no power to the tires that really needed it.
The put a 2 wheel drive Silverado in the same position. The differential locked and it pulled out with ease.
They put the Ford 4 wheel drive in an incline, similar to a boat ramp. Both right side tires were on cargo rollers. The Ford 4 wheel drive got stuck. The backed it up a bit and got a run but still couldn't get past the rollers.
They put a 2 wheel drive Silverado in the same position. The differential locked and it pulled away with ease.
This differential is available in both the 2 and 4 wheel drive Silverado.
They did most of the comparisons against the Ford, but the results would be the same against a Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Honda, etc as they have nothing remotely like this.

I think the Best Truck in the World is the Ford F-250 4X4 All years are good, but I think the 88 thru 98 are the best. The 351 Motor is a Power house that has power with out over reving. The frame is four walled and strong. If you can't get it done with a Ford, it's because you don't own one.

Silverado.
I've owned two and neither have ever left me stranded. My 1994 has over 300,000 miles on original motor and tranny, and my 2001 has over 226,000. Both were used as work trucks to haul, then both were lightly raced.
They also hold their value really well, get better gas mileage, (my 01 gets 21 mpg and it has the 5.3 V8), ride like a dream, and are quick, although F150s normally are faster due to higher horsepower ratings. The Fords typically pull better too, especially the powerstroke. But I would say, for a normal, everyday driver, go with a Silverado.

you don't give much information(size etc.), but if you want reliability then Toyota is in a class all it's own. Nissan has proven to be ,maybe, as reliable as Chevy and ford. dodge is not very reliable.
this is based of consumer reports annual auto issue. CR reliability reports are based on the actual problems/repairs etc. that are experienced by CR members (those who subscribe to CR either online or by magazine) for 2006 that number was 1,300,000 who took the annual survey for everything from autos to washers.
the new Toyota truck is quite big and has more HP and torque than any other truck on the market. the 2007 (due out in February) will have a 5.7l with 381 HP and (I think)403 # torque, in march or April they will come out with their BIG one it will be bigger than the dodge mega cab
Cummings has come out with a beefed up 5.9l (the dodge Cummings) for the RV market. it has 6.7l and 350 HP and 750#torque-haven't heard if it will ever be available in trucks. right now they're putting it in class c and class a motorhomes. GMC has the 6.6l diesel that has 360HP and 650#torque (that's the most powerful diesel on trucks) for some reason it doesn't seem to be available in the Chevy.

Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab. Maybe not "best" but definitely baddest.
Hard to argue with the Viper engine, perhaps not the most reliable or affordable but hauls balls like no other, Silverado SS and F-150 SVT included.
0-60 in 5.3
155mph
8150 pounds towing capacity
$53,000
You may get a majority or a consensus, but you will never get a definitive answer, all have their disadvantages and advantages but in the end it comes down to personal opinion.

Mercedes Benz makes a utility truck that has six wheel drive, eight forward gears, three reverse gears, has three power-take-offs(PTO) and has a snorkel for the air intake and exhaust so it can traverse deep water. It's big, it's ugly, it's expensive....but boy, what a truck!

If you look at sales only, it's the Ford F150. Best seller 28 years in a row.
