I would suggest a warm bottle with some baby cereal (the powder kind) in the bottle as well. You may have to open the nipple just a little bit, but the added cereal fills them up and helps them stay satisfied longer.

Congrats and best of luck

I know that many Mothers are going to tell you to put Cereal in your babies bottle... DO NOT DO IT! The cereal does make them feel full, but actually they over eat this way, and it can lead to constipation, digestion problems and bad eating habits when you do introduce solids. It's a big NO NO.
Try ending your evening with a bath, then a bottle and a story. If your baby does wake up, try soothing him to sleep with a little song or a couple of pats on the back. Maybe give him a blankie or something else to suck on like a pacifier. Then leave the room. You will know by his cry if he just woke up for food, or if he needed a little soothing to go back to sleep. If he is getting proper nutrients during the day he should start sleeping through the night very soon.
Best of Luck!

The best advice I got from a book after 3 months of pure exhaustion worked within 3 days, but I never have seen this advice anywhere else. If your baby is waking up hungry during the night do this: During the day, when it is time to feed him and he starts the hungry cry, wait 1/2 hour before you actually give him food. I know this sounds crazy and annoying, but it worked. This tells the little guy that just because he wakes up and cries he is not going to get fed right away, and they stop screaming in the middle of the night and put themselves back to sleep because they are not starving. Try it for a couple weeks and see how fast it works. I was never so happy to get some sleep.

actually, most babies never sleep through the night. they wake on average every 2-3 hours; it just depends on whether or not they can self-soothe themselves back to sleep. my physician said that you can begin to introduce single grain cereals to a 4 month old twice a day, two tablespoons per feeding, starting with rice (least reactive). if you give the baby cereal at dinner time, that may help the baby sleep for a longer period before waking at night. also, we let our baby (now 9 months) take another little nap around 7:30pm, then she's up until 9:30pm and then goes to bed for the night. we find that she sleeps longer that first time down if we put her to bed later... good luck!

Put about 1/2 teaspoon of RICE cereal in the last nighttime bottle. Make sure it is RICE cereal because it has no grain that may cause allergies in some babies. You'll have to enlarge the nipple slightly because the formula will be thicker with the cereal in it. This worked wonders for my kids.

If he is still waking up after the cereal bottle, it may be that his sleeping schedule is off whack.

Be sure and build a nice gentle feeding and sleeping schedule for you and the baby. It will help the baby's body get into a rythym. At four months old, if baby is showing signs of saliva in the mouth (which is necessary for solids to be digested properly) you can begin rice cereal (but never in a bottle). Begin with 1/4 tsp. (to be sure of no allergies with rice) along with warmed formula. I would feed the baby at 7am, 11 am, 3pm and 7pm. You can offer the rice at the last 3 feedings. Lay the baby down for a nap (in their bed) after the 7am feeding and after the 11am, but I'd keep my baby in the room with me the rest of the day, playing and talking to them. Then at 7pm after the feeding, give him a nice warm bath and lay them down for the nite. It takes about 3 times (nites) to create a habit and remember it takes 3
times to break one. So have fun with your baby. He should be sleeping thru in a few days and you both will rest well and wake feeling refreshed. :) Have fun!

Give your baby a warm bath right before bedtime and feed him/her as much as he/she wants. If his/her belly is full, he'she may not wake up thru the night to feed.

Maybe there is something wrong. Please check the environment around the room maybe the baby is not comfortable. Check the temperature if its just right or the bed, pillows ect. If they are not comfortable with it there is a possibility that they cannot sleep through.
