How many miles are on your vehicle or on the struts? Are they the original struts? Typically, struts should last about 50 - 70,000 depending on the wear of your vehicle. You should go to an auto tech and have them do a front end inspection. Usually, in most tech shops, their should be no charge for this. They will look over your struts, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. Keep in mind that you will also need an alignment if any of these front end parts need replaced.

Struts and shocks will typically start to lose effectiveness at between 50-70k - but they usually won't squak. They just lose damping ability.

Squeaks are normally associated with "ball-and-socket" parts like outer tie rod ends or ball joints. Of those, the outer tie rod ends are actually more likely to make noise than the ball joints. These can be checked for excessive wear by any half-way competent shop.
