I love Christopher Moore's books!
His books have a bit of mystery, and a very warped sense of humor. .
My favorite so far is 'A Dirty Job'.
Enjoy!

John Grisham Books are good, his earlier books from the 90s are better than his most recent ones though.
The Thirteenth tale really good, i cant really explain to much about it because it would give it away but its a good twisted story.
My mom likes Dean Koontz books and they are all murder mystery i think.
Dan Brown's books are good, i actually like most of his other books better than the Divinci Code.
Another great mystery type novel is The Historian...it is sort of a vampire book but not the kind you may think it is its very different its rooted in the history behind vampire stories and its really a great mystery novel.
The Dante Club is a great murder mystery crazy person novel its set in the past and its really well done.
Try searching on amazon they have great features you can look at a book you know you like and it will show you other similar books, plus they have lots of reader reviews you can read. They also have reader reccomended lists on listmania to give you an idea of what other people out there like.

I remember this really good book I read in like 7th grade...it's called "Searching for David's Heart" by Cherie Bennett. I think it's actually a movie now and was aired on ABC Family. It's just the best book you will ever read. And I really think that if you pass up the chance to read this then you're really missing out.
I also loved "Where the red fern grows" by Wilson Rawls. Its a book about a boy who wants 2 coon dogs, but his parents are poor. He finds an ad in the paper for two pups for 50 bucks. He works for 2 years and saves up the money. He travels out into the city to get his pups. He trains em and they become the best coon huntin dogs. In the end, the pups died( lil ann, the girl, died because she couldnt live w/o old dan) and old dan died after he had a fight with another animal. Where they were burried, a red fern grew. Its really a sad story of never giving up. I loved it a lot.

If you enjoy those authors and genres then i definetly recommend Dean Koontz. Any of his books are good but the two i enjoy most are Velocity and False Memory. False Memory is about a personality disorder.
