When I first conceived this question I meant in terms of presents for birthdays etc but actually would be quite interested in any thoughts that help to shed light on the male psyche as a whole!

I beleive that the basis of a man's Psyche is sex. Now I am not tring to be rude but its true. Not just a meaningless F*%k but men want to be seduced, basicy have a girlfriend who is a untamed beast, who will not stop experimenting and attempting new things. Men also want the same girlfriend to be perfectly respecable to take to see there mum and to look like butter would not melt in their mouth.
As for gifts and stuff I do not know if men actually need to be showered in much. Maybe the ocasional gadgit. Just remember that we are kids at heart, Just got more money to buy bigger toys. Most things we want we just buy. I suppose that is why the supprise bj for no reason as soon as yu get back from work hits the mark.

Men are simple and they like simple things, no hints, no drama, straight to the point.
Just get him something that is very practical and will last him a very long time.
But first, make sure that it is something he really needs.
Ask him about his childhood, what good moment in his early life does he relish speaking about. Take it from there. Be creative, yet simple.

Men are like little boys they like toys (big boy toys). Seriously though if he has a hobby, like cars, fishing or football etc etc try and find something on those lines. If he loves himself then something in the Male cosmetic line - its ok for men to use moisturizer. Or for a treat - take him for a romantic meal.

men are not an alien species!! You can not sum up a particular gender! Men and women are more alike then they are different. They are individuals, and like all individuals we all have our likes and dislikes! You can not say most men like this and most men like that. Even if most men like something, it is still not all men! So stop trying to categorise the genders as unidimensional creatures! Treat people as individuals! By looking for things that "sum up the male psyche" as you say only serves to create stereotypes and as you are probably aware stereotypes are just as much inaccurate as they are accurate.

men wants to feel like the man.
So you often have to give them compliment s on their physic (body) muscles, looks, they also want sexyness, meaning give your men a dance once in a while it ill keep em away from srtip clubs. Oh and a big heads up, A men likes to be always right, so listen up if you are sure you are right let em they're right until they get wrong . Its just funny to see them get mad whenever you rub it in their faces. " Told you So." Then you can say next time listen to me. but dont count on it.
