Burning a CD is when you write things to the CD so that you can take it to another computer or device and use the stored information. Copying a CD tends to refer to copying EXACTLY what is on the disk so that it can be used on the computer, it usually is already in a format that the computer can use. Finnally Ripping a CD is usually used for audio files where the music on the CD is not in the format that you need it to be in to run on the computer so the computer copys the information off in a format that it can use.

Ripping a CD means putting a CD into the drive and pulling the songs off of it onto the hard drive (usually in MP3 format).
Copying a CD is either accomplished by ripping the CD and then dumping the songs back onto a blank CD, or putting the original CD in one drive, and the blank one in the burner, and copying from disk to disk (or the computer will allow you to copy the original and dump it back onto a blank--all using one drive).
Burning a CD is when you put music (or data) onto a CD, if it is a regular CD-R you can only burn it once (you can usually set it to let you add more stuff until it is full). A CD-RW allows you to burn to it, and then erase and reburn.

burning is copying anything to a cd-r, copying a cd means to take a cd and copy it to another cd, ripping a cd means to copy information off a cd and on to a hardrive, ripping is generally a term only used when copying music off a CD to the hardrive into a media player.
