That's a loaded question! A lot of it had to do with the Versailles Treaty and the conditions that were very bad for Germans. They had a bad economy, but worse than everyone else. The Nazis revved that up by putting the military back into action. They remilitarized to show their strength, and attacked countries that once belonged to them before WWI, i.e. Poland, Czechelslovakia, Austria, Hungary; believing that the Allies would not do anything about it, which they didn't until Germany attacked Poland in Sep 1939. There is a wonderful book called "The Origins of the Second World War" by P.M.H. Bell that explains all this in detail.

The country was going through the worst depression in history. It wasn't only financial but moral and emotional as well. The people had lost all pride in themselves after losing such a terrible war and would follow anyone who gave them pride.

Along comes Hitler, who taught them to love the "Fatherland" again. Of course he needed to explain who broke Germany and the Jews made a likely target since Germany was heavily anti semitic anyway.

He brought the country out of economic depression by rearming them, a violation of the Treaty of Versailles. This gave them something to push for and gave them confidence again.

World War 1 is a huge part of the reason for WW2. Wounded national pride, Hitler yelling in their ears that they would have won if only they hadn't been stabbed in the backs by the cowards and (particularly) Jews at home.

And of course, no one goes to war expecting to lose - they thought they were going to win and rule a subjurgated and terrorised Europe for their own benefit. It wasn't just the Jews who were destined for a foul time - the Slavs were destined for a life of agricultural slavery, for one.

Hitler fought in WWI and was around 19 years old. He was blinded in a mustard gas attack for months. Germany's economy collapsed after the war and he blamed the Jews for robbing their country. That is why he joined militia groups and was jailed for 10 years. All this kept fueling his need for revenge.

They made the war. They were angry at the limits placed on them after the first wars, and felt like they should be able to do whatever they wanted. Under Adolf Hitler, they did.
