the postpartum suite is for mothers and their babies. it allows some mothers to have their newborn babies right next to them all day, whereas normally the babies go to a separate room in the hospital and a nurse would have to get your baby and bring them to you for nursing, etc.

The difference is the first one is where you are until you give birth and then about an hour after delivery they move you to a postpartum room. Some hospitals have labor/delivery/recover/postpartum rooms available but I think there are some restrictions like no epidurals.

If they aren't crowded, they would let you stay in the LDR rooms for your whole hospital stay.

If they are crowded, they would move you to a PP room instead after the baby is born.

I am betting one of the main differences is if all the beds break down into birthing beds. The PP rooms might not have "Daddy couches" to sleep on either.

Only way to know for sure is to call the hospital and ask them.

Where I live, Switzerland, a pp/mbr is where the child stays with you 24/7.

labor & delivery is where you actually deliver your baby. then afterwards the postpartum room is where you stay after you deliver.
