In all honesty there is no such thing as a stupid question..
The only stupid question out there, is the one that is not asked.
What may be common sense to one, is not always obvious to another.
As far as your question, "How stupid can a person be without being considered brain dead"?
I would have to say... Look at our President, your answer lies there.

when i see a question that has an obvious answer, i have to wonder how badly the new pet will be treated. simply because of ignorance. if people would only do a little research when thinking of getting a new pet, i wouldn't have had to rescue 9 horses (half were neglect / ignorance) and countless dogs. i shudder when someone asks where to get a purebred dog of a breed they can't spell (CYBERIAN ?). if people don't have enough sense to admit they don't know if they want a dog or a cat in their tiny apartment while they work 10 hours a day, they shouldn't get anything bigger than a goldfish.

there are stupid people. BUT there's no such thing as a stupid question. that person may not know what the answer is... that's why they're asking. they wouldnt ask a question if they know the answer anyway ryt?
and some people tend to complicate things and forget the basics.

Common sense will answer your question. A lot of people dont have common sense but that does not mean they are stupid. People can be book smart (genuises) but lack in common sense and vice versa. We are all different and our brains all work differently. I think its much better to ask, than to not..that in itself is common sense.

Maybe you know the answer but they really just dont. If someone asked you a question about a subject you knew little about, would you ask more questions, or look dumb giving the wrong answer....just food for thought!
But your not to dumb to answer the dumb questions for the points huh......so whos the real dummy in the equation!

My absolute favorite question that I've ever seen on this website was "Can cats see through walls?". I never laughed so hard in my life. Although, it really makes me nervous when people ask things like, "My dog just had puppies last week, is it okay for me to start giving them away even though their eyes aren't open?".
