you got the names of all the favourites, but it really go me thinking about great bands that would never be called the best band ever, but are worth an honourable mention.
What about madness, squeeze, stranglers, prefab sprout, eurythmics, deacon blue, fairground attraction, the smiths, the commotions, big country, new order, aztec camera.

The Beatles...you can't argue with longevity & sales. Personally, I prefer The Rolling Stones from that era. And The Who.
