According to Microsoft "con" is actually already a file on your pc used for virtual use. Like when you create a word document and in the folder it is saved in you might see something like " $exampe" WIERD!

STEP2: type in prompt e:\> "mkdir \\.\e:\con"

STEP3: verify by typing "dir \\.\e:\con"

STEP4: delete the file or folder "rmdir \\.\e:\con"

probably the programmers used con as a command or something, so that when you make a folder called "con" you are giving a command.
