It is spelled taboo. Unless it is a brand on a perfume bottle, and then it might be spelled like you have it, but mean sort of the same thing, or idea.
It means, something that is forbidden. Tribal people have a whole list of taboo's that they follow, if they still believe in them.
Taboo's were often established through tradition, such as learning through time what works and what doesn't. And so, avoiding what doesn't! Like, if it doesn't work, what do we want to do that again, for?!
They were often set up, I think, by the medicine man, or a Chief, I guess, or someone with authority, to protect the land or the animals.
They had warnings or consequences attached to them, to make it easier for whoever set it up to get the people to listen, by making them more meaningful.
Such as, if you over fish these waters, great misfortune will come upon our people. Of course, that's true! In a way, cause if you take so many that they can't breed, and the people depend on fish, you will lose the species, possibly. And the people will die of starvation.
Great harm came to tribal people, when people who don't live there come in and tell the people their leader, and their taboo are wrong.
This often ends in the people disregarding the nature that is supporting them, which leads to ruining their environments, and great lack of what they need.

It basically means "Don't go there". Whether it be a place (sacred site) or conversation (Don't talk about it). It can also mean "Out of bounds".
