At this point, yes.
To leave now, would cause a power vacuum that Iran would be only too happy to try to fill. The fact that Iran is predominately Shiite, and Iraq's other large neighbor, Saudi Arabia, is mainly Sunni, would also cause problems as they would both look to supports the sects that best serve their own interests, leaving the Iraqis in the middle. The Kurds to the north, may also see this as an opportunity, and try to form their own nation, segmenting the country even more.

This will just be one of many reports before anything is finalized. besides, a troop withdrawal doesn't mean we are leaving Iraq entirely. We will still be involved in training Iraqi troops and operations against Al Qaida. Even the Democrats approve of that. We're not going anywhere for decades to come, that I can guarantee you.

Right now leaving would be the biggest crime of all, which we will probably do. For the sake of the Kurds in the north the US should offer some protection for these repressed people.
The only workable model is a loose confederation of states like in Bosnia. However, separation by choice or force is needed for the Bosnia model to work.
