I had the same thing happen with my epson Rx620. I put in a full yellow and it said empty. I went to the refill place and they said the ink has a chip that the computer reads or misreads and they will recllibrate the chip on the ink refill.
Now I have the problem that the coies don't print yellow even though the the printer /scanner doesn't say that it is empty. I really don't like my Epson. does anybody? The prints are inconsistently good. Mostly muddy.

we have an epson. the printer has a chip that records ink usage, when you get a new cartridge the chip reads it and resets, if you refill an old cartridge it wont automatically reset you need to do it. you can buy chip resetters (see link below or ebay) they arent expensive, we got one for ours cos the refill kit and the resetter was still cheaper than buying a new cartridge, ours worked fine, weve done it a few times now, the resetter can be reused

↓ Turn of Printer
↓ Turn back on
↓ Look under the printer options
↓ Should say Test printer
Select this option for the PC to be able to detect new ink...
Also after every time you place new ink in I suggest you ask the printer to clean all the ink nozzles.

Remove the cartridge, switch off the printer, put cartridge back in, switch printer back on.
If all else fails, maybe you've got a duff cartridge?
