If the doctor said the car seat is okay, then I would just keep doing that until she feels better. So young to be sick, poor girl. I actually let my son sleep in his car seat a lot when I first brought him home because every time I tried to transfer him to his bed he would wake up. I hope she feels better soon! : )

Over the last couple of weeks there was a piece on the news about the hazards of babies' sleeping in car seats. It was pointed out that their heads can lean forward more and cut off their breathing when their neck is essentially "folded".
Mothers were told not to leave their babies unattended and sleeping in car seats.
Some infant seats have the baby "less folded" and offer more of a straight-backed position on an incline. I think that kind of thing may be good.
When it comes down to it, though, I'm a big fan of holding a sick baby as much as possible and watching for changes or breathing problems. I thought myu (then) 18-month-old just had a cold, but I was holding him as he slept - and then he suddenly popped into a febrile seizure. I was glad I was holding him and saw it right away.
What can look like "just a cold" can turn to "croupy" or worse fairly quickly. Hours can make a big difference.
I'm not saying everybody needs to panic over every cold, but keeping an eye on the baby is always a wise idea. Sure, mothers lose a little more sleep by keeping such a close eye on what can be nothing more than a headcold, but its only until the baby gets a little bigger and is less likely to have complications from an infection.
I think a cold humidifier (rather than a steam one) is the most helpful thing when they're sleeping; and if you leave her in her car seat keep her near you and watch that her head doesn't slump over too much.

i think sleeping in the carseat is fine for maybe naptime, but not over night. right now my 10 month old has ear infections and a cold, has had them for 4 months now.
here's what we do for her. and they have helped her cold a lot. first have your baby sleep in her bed. but prop up one end will pillow or a blankets under the mattress. and make sure her head is at that end. another thing i have found is working for my daughter is a vicks vaporizer. it's not very expensive either. the vaporizer itself cost $10 at walmart. and the vapor stuff is $2.25 for the cheap brand. having this run while she is in her bed will help a great deal.
at that age, it's very difficult i know. because unlike a toddler you can't give them cold medicine. so you have to learn to make due with old remedies. i highly recommend the vaporizer though. i used it for about 3 days and she was pretty much cleared up. then i stopped using it and the cold came back. so i suggest using it for about a week longer after you know the cold is gone.
also, be sure to get her ears checked. colds are known for causing ear infections in infants. and if you get the two together, neither of you will be very happy.

Actually, a new study just came out a few weeks ago about babies sleeping in car seats. It is not safe. One thing you can do is while she is in the crib, you can stick a blanket or pillow UNDER the mattress to elevate it a little bit. Look up Infant car seats might pose breathing risks on the internet. I found it that way.. Give me a thumbs down all you want. I know plenty of babies turned out just fine, but try reading it first..

Try a warm mist humidifier. Take her in a steamy bathroom with the shower running. Make sure her nasal passages are clear.
They do make crib wedges that will prop the baby. They are also really good if your baby has any kind of acid reflux.

well i think it's best to do a the doctor says...because you can't use pillows and thing like that around a baby that young because she could die of sids if you use other thing to keep her elevated you can let her sleep in a bouncer set also it's the same as a carseat but it's softer

We used to prop one end of her bassinet up on towels so it was elevated enough to keep her propped up but not too elevated to cause her to slide to the bottom. Sleeping in her swing worked really well too.

When we needed to position our kids that way, we brought the car seats inside and let them sleep in them. The only problem was that we needed to wash the seats more. :)

Sleeping in her car seat is fine. You can also use blocks to prop up her crib........or put something under the mattress to prop her up.

You could also wear her in a sling or wrap, positioning her upright on your chest. This helps my baby when he is stuffy.
