I hope you know trigonometry.

tan(60*)=9/x

x=9/tan(60*)
x=9/sqrt(3)

You have an angle, 30º, and two legs of a right triangle. You need to use the tangent function to solve the problem.

tan 30º = x / 9
x = 9 tan 30º

Hopefully, you have memorized the 30-60-90 triangle, and know offhand that tan 30º = 1/√3
x= 9 / √3
x = 5.2

X = 5.2.

Solution:

tan 60 = sqrt(3) (General formula).

Bur your diagram states that tan 60 = 9/x.

Therefore
sqrt(3)=9/x
x.sqrt(3)=9
x = 9/sqrt(3)
x = 5.19615243
x = 5.2

(sqrt stands for square root of)

tanθ = o/a

tan30° = x / 9

9tan30° = 9(x/9)

9tan30° = x

9(0.577350269) = x

5.196152423 = x

5.2 = x

The answer is x = 5.2
