You have this year's champ-Florida
You have Auburn
You have Tennesse
You South Carolina
You have LSU.
You have Alabama
You have Arkansas
You also have my personal favorite, Georgia Bulldogs.
Imagine every year you have to play Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Auburn or some of the other powerhouses. Anyone that can lose only one game in that conference is a champion.

As a fellow Georgia fan I would say absolutely. As Florida's defensive end said after the title game, there were four or five teams in the SEC that could beat Ohio State.

It's ridiculous the amount of bias toward the Big 10 and Notre Dame. They were both heavy favorites as well as media darlings and were both dominated by the "mediocre" SEC.

Btw, Stafford for Heisman in '08 ;)

Absolutely, the SEC is the most "completely" powerful conference in college football. All of those teams could have won the ACC this year, and every year, it seems that at least one SEC team is in the top 5, if not the top 3. The ACC made a step in the right direction by sticking Miami and Virginia Tech in their conference, but those two teams, in addition to Florida State, are on the decline in my opinion. The Big Ten had two outstanding teams this year, and then who? The Pac 10? Yeah, who finished in second in that conference? The Big East has the most potential out of the crowd, but it has a long way to go, and the Big Twelve is powerful, but the SEC is, without a shadow doubt, the most powerful football conference, top-to-bottom.

Sorry if you were hoping for a "yes"... SEC is the strongest this year. If you are looking at the preseason polls, they are usually pretty worthless. Still, they have the top ranked ACC team being either close to, or out of, the top 10. Even the Big East has 2 teams in the top 15 preseason. ACC may be very good from Miami, FSU, VT, to Clemson, but other than that, they need another team to step up and make an impact, as well as some key non-conference victories. We won't know until the games are played, but it seems to me that from top to bottom ACC is 2nd to the SEC. A close 2nd, but still 2nd.

Right now, I have to say you are absolutely right. But it is fleeting. Teams change so quickly in college sports that nothing is permanent. Everything you said above people were saying about the Big Ten a decade ago, and now that conference kind of sucks. Penn State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, and any number of other teams were always a big bowl threat. Then it was the Big Twelve. Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, and any number of other schools were constant contenders. Now they kind of suck. I think the SEC is the toughest conference in the country right now. In four years or so, though, who knows? I live in Tallahassee right now, and you would not believe how entitled the people here feel about their football team, which was so dominant in the 90s and early this century. If you are a big SEC fan, congratulations! Enjoy it while you can. You never know what will happen!

There is no doubt the SEC is the #1 conference in the NCAA.

The reason Florida won was because they were battled tested against the very best all year long. Ohio St. was tested twice.

Truly the best team won on Monday and it came as no surprise to me at all.

You would have to say that it is. Not only did the national championship game help us to see that the SEC is the best conference, but that game as well as the rose bowl helped us to see that the Big 10 wasn't quite as good as people thought. Although Wisconsin beat Arkansas, the SEC was much better. That is hard to say since I am from Big 12 country.

Yes all those teams you mentioned except South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee had a shot at winning it all this year, but Flordia took home the prize this year.

Are you kidding. Pac10 and Big10 play football. I'm not sure what they do in the SEC.
You forgot the other powerhouse teams....Vanderbilt, Mississippi and Mississippi State
Just razzing you, great conference. Go Uga!

It is this year and has been for a while. Fewer weak sisters than other conferences and decent middle-of-the-pack teams, which is really how you should measure a conference's strength, vs who's at the top.
