I'm more of a jigsaw person, but when it comes to board games, I like the game "Risk" and any table top battle game. You can't defeat me at them!

Risk and Scrabble.
It's easy to find players for Scrabble; even people who know they'll get their butts handed to them will play because the fun comes from sitting an chatting. Playing Literati (a Scrabble clone) on yahoo's games sucks.
Finding someone willing to play Risk for two to four hours of brutal mental combat (never mind finding players who can put up a fight) is a pain at the best of times. Thank goodness for computer software.
Download TurboRisk from this site. It's freeware and a lot of fun. It also includes an Pascal-like interpreter so you can create your own opponents.

When it comes to the classics, you can't beat Monopoly! It's the best once you know all the rules and stuff. But, when it comes to new and modern games, Cranium's great! It combines pictionary, charades, etc into one game.

Hungry Hungry Hippos, they never stop eating! (possibly because there made of plastic). I really don't think that classifies as a board game, so...monopoly.
