take it to a competent BMW mechanic. You say oil lamp. There are a couple of different oil lamps on cars. Some say change oil soon some just show a picture of an oil can some say low oil level. But no matter what if the car is running different then I would not drive it anymore and take it to a mechanic via a tow truck.

Major problems should set a check engine light, such as engine miss-fire> Depending on the year (all newer models) you should only being using a full synthetic oil BMW usually recommend Castrol 10 w 40. You must use synthetic - failure to do so will cause premature engine wear! So 1st get your oil changed!

an oil warning lamp means lack of oil pressure. even if you have plenty of oil in the engine, if the pump is broke, you still have no oil pressure. A "change engine oil" lamp means what it says. dont confuse the 2. if you have no oil pressure DO NOT DRIVE IT!!!!!! TOW it to a mechanic.

what oil lamp,, the oil level or the oil pressure,

oil pressure could indicate a bad pump, ask your mechanic to check it with a actual gauge,, the running rough could be something totally different, like a dirty Plenum or throttle body

Your "oil warning light" is an oil pressure warning. Not good, you'll need to take it in and get it assessed. Could be the pump, rings, head a number of things. Sorry....

Sounds like oil pump failure. Continued use could cost you an engine.

When did you change it last? The oil could be dirty..

There's probably something else wrong. Get it to a technician.

Good luck.
