I have been a nail tech for ten years and acrylic nails are generally not harmful to your natural nails if done correctly. The only problems that are, normal and common, is when removing the nails they will be dehydrated, rough and soft. But they will harden up again within hours and can easily be rehyrated and smooth again with a little cuticle oil and a buffer.

acrylic nails are acrylic applied over the nail in several layers to build thickness and length..its good if you have good nails to start with..but you can get fungus under the acrylic nail which is black and gross then you have to get them removed which costs more money...try Sally Hansens nail growth products first the one with seaweed in it will make your nails healthy and they will grow if you don't bite them..which is easier said than done I'm a nail biter myself and use this stuff...

I get acrylic nails. They add a plastic type nail ontop of your nail then add a moldable acrylic on top of that, you can choose how long you want them and so on, but you have to get them filled in every two weeks for however long you want them.

My wife wears them. Your own nails will get steadily worse. They will get thinner and weaker. Until they are finally gone.
