I didnt like the "waht to expect" series that much. They give you alot of "worst case scenerios" and that will freak out alot of moms.
I enjoy reading the "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" book, and plan on getting the "Your Baby's First Year week by week". I LOVE in the pregnancy one, how they show you pictures (drawings) of the baby and what it looks like each week and thre ACTUAL size of it (until it gets too big...bigger than the book...lol).
I just began reading "The Happiest Baby on the Block", which is more of a book to read closer to labor and hte baby actually being here. It's abotu how to settle down the fussiest babies...and why babies cry and how to soothe them, etc. I'm on ly int he beginnign of it, but it is VERY informative so far, and makes alot of sense.
If you choose to go with teh "what to expect" series...just be aware, that you dont need to freak out over some of the things they talk about. The way the word things in there, make it seem as though it happens to everyone...and alot of hte info in there does NOT apply to most people (although anythign can happen to anyone). So just be aware.
Good luck to you, and congrats!

I like the What to Expect the First Year, but wasn't happy with the "while you were expecting" because as the other poster mentioned the worst-case scenarios (I'm a worrier first-timer due any day now). For a daily read my husband and I Really enjoy "The Pregnancy Journal" it gives a daily account of what could have been happening that day. We made it a nightly thing for him to read it to me and the baby so the baby learns his voice well too. Also "Great Expectations: Your All-in-One Resource for Pregnancy & Childbirth" is a really nice book that I've read a lot of too.
Good Luck

The What To Expect series is awesome. They have them for pregnancy, the first year, toddlers, etc. They are a great investment and I would recommend them to any mother no matter how many kids she has.

What to expect when your expecting is the most popular, I have also found it very helpfull. But I also just do alot of reading on the internet. Some of the baby sites are great, like american baby, and baby center. They send you weekly emails about what you should be feeling, and what is happening with the baby. Good Luck!

I would recommend "What to Expect the first year" and if you are pregnant, pick up a copy of "What to Expect when You're Expecting". These are very informative and cover almost everything you need to know. They also make "What to Expect the Toddler Years". I have all of them!

My wife's favorite books are "Your pregnancy week by week"
and "Girlfriends guide to pregnancy".
I highly recommend these two, she's reading them all the time. Be careful which books you decide, there are many out there that will eventually freak you out, which is totally unnecessary.
If you can find it, the first book usually comes with another one called "Your babies first year week by week"
