Hello

I think books make not only wonderful decoration (as long as they are not really ratty looking). But are quite resourceful as well. Having a first aid book in a certain place means everyone knows where to find it.

Books on display also lets people you invite into your home know a little bit about you. What you are interested in, what your talents or hobbies might be.

For example if you came into our home you would notice that in the front hall is a bookcase from that you would learn that someone in our home is interested in natural healing, has a talent or hobby in woodturning/woodworking does some car repairs. Also that someone in the house is into the Chicken Soup for Soul books and that someone is also into Clive Cussler and Bernard Cornwell. You would also find a book on first aid and also some dog training books.

In other book cases in the house you would know that someone in the house enjoys reading Anne Rice, Patrica Cornwell's Kay Scarpeta Series, Steven King and Diana Gabaldon. You would also know that one or more persons enjoy good mystery thrillers.

It also means if we have guests and they find a sleepless night or want some quiet time to themselves they know where to find a good read. :0)

So books really are a good source of entertainment as well as decoration. And as informative and quick as the internet is it can't take your mind to places or give it images that a few well place words can. And it's next to impossible to surf the net with no electricity. :0)

Good luck in building your collection.

I think that somewhere a sort of albums, photographs, books about architecture, art etc; can be at sametime used as wonderful decoration. You know, sometime even people may play this role:)))) Otherwise, books are for reading of course, but what is wrong if they can help to decorate your home, office etc.

The purpose of books is decoration. No one reads books anymore...they look up everything on the internet.

that would be a good idea but i think it would be better if you would just donate it or give it to others who just might need it rather than just decorating it after you have read it. well, after all books are meant for reading. as it goes , read to achieve.

I hope so, I have a living room wall covered with a full bookshelf. Have often thought of putting them up in loft, but then visitors like looking at them too, and asking what each is about.
