can anybody recommend any good golden loach sites. i've checked all my fish books and can't find one anywhere. so are these also known by a different name

Assuming you mean wha is msot commonly sold as 'gold loach', it's probably the gold morph of the chinese algae eater. Grows large (6"+), and gets very aggressive when it gets large. Often known for eating other fishes eyeballs and slimecoat. Not reccomended for tanks at all.

you could try www.loaches.com they may be able to help are you sure its a species in its own right and not just a colour variation of another loach as i never heard of them
