Hey lighthouse, The caravan is the problem not the roofrack. You have a vehicle that is kind of tall and boxy so when the wind hits it from the side it has a lot of surface offering resistance. The wind basically pushes the whole vehicle in the direction that the wind is blowing. Leave the rack on, it will make no difference. I drive a little convertible and have the same problem but for different reasons, although my car doesn't provide much wind resistance on the side, it is light and so what wind it gets moves it pretty effectively. It's kind of a no win situation. Heavy winds will effect cars, trucks, vans, boats, planes etc... You get used to it and learn to compensate. Watch out on wet freeways on windy days! Enjoy!
