Yeah right... Less becomes more because it leaves the person who's reading it thinking... And the more they think, the more they can explain the answer to themselves in a longer sense... But whatever the answer is, it depends on the substance...

google it.

scrambled eggs: scramble the eggs, end of story.

Look, if we knew how to change a light bulb, we wouldn't ask. And besides, they screw in completely differently in the UK than in most countries.

Yes, some write answers that are too long.

And copy and paste is bad whatever the length, except if you want to know song lyrics.

But I find many more that don't even answer the question, instead they give irrelevant or too short answers. You know, they give you a database, you go there, and your song or movie isn't on it.

And what about a ridiculously long question which made its point in the first line and then went on to extrapolate, pontificate and agglomerate into a morass of tautology? Eh? Succinct answers only please.

PS Dude is correct - if you have a simple question, google for the simple answer. Worthwhile questions demand thoughtful and developed answers - otherwise the whole site deteriorates into smarmy and sarcastic quips.

Well, I'm one of those who is guilty of writing long answers. Sometimes it is because the question has triggered a great deal in my mind, and sometimes it is because saying things in a brief form is often misunderstood.

Take this question, for example. I could have just said "It's just you." That would have been a true, but incomplete, answer. It is my opinion that long answers are often good answers, so I need to include more.

Of course, plenty of people do write long answers that are just rambling nonsense. But at least scan, because you may find there is real information, real insight, even wisdom, that you did not expect when you asked your question.

i do not study the actual answer yet as a change skim threw it to work out even if it really is actual solid. each and every now and then it really is critical to correct a 5 web page essay to respond to some as an party "Is god authentic?" an straightforward sure or no received't justify it you would possibly want to provide distinct quantities of information resources and reasoning to get the point in the course of to someone.

I don't mind if it's interesting and personal. The only thing that bothers me if people just cut and paste lengthy prargraphs from other sights, if I ask a question on here it's coz I dont want a generic answer, if they put the link up , then I can go decide for myself if I want to read it.

If its a long answer and written personally & based on experience of the subject then its okay. What I hate is the 'cut & paste' answers from sites like Wikepedia etc. They are boring and the asker can look this up themselves - just post the link !!!!!

Lots of them just do a quick search then cut and paste entire pages from other web sites in hopes of getting a "best answer" rating.

I try to keep my answers short, but sometimes a simple question is not so simple when you think about it and then it might require a longer answer.
