It's an Acer (not know for good quality), and if you do not intend on upgrading within the next year, I would extend the warranty. The most expensive item to replace (and the one with the highest failure rate) is the LCD screen. Those run about $1000 US, and you can purchase a new laptop for that.

Here's the way I handle "guarantees". I set up a savings account for myself titled "Warrantees". Anything I buy that can be purchased with an extended warranty..... I take the amount of money asked by the seller and put it in the savings account.
Over a long period of time... this has worked for me well. Keep in mind warrantees are a high profit maker for these companies. Do this and follow it for 5 years. I think you'll be very happy.
(BTW: Take any money you need for a repair out of the savings account).

Averaged over your lifetime, the 85 quid is a rip-off (same as for any other kind of extended insurance on home appliances).
What's the cheapest new laptop out there that could replace yours? Chances are it's less than 500 notes or so.

Firstly - you never bought a PC you bought a Laptop
Laptop's become obsolete faster as there is no room inside it to increase performance. Where with a PC you can get a longer life out of it by adding more ram and better graphics cards.
i would say about 1.5 years will be good going for your Laptop

Maybe I am a risk taker, but I never buy extended warranties. They would not sell them if the risk was not in their favor and they could make a profit. I will work with the same odds that they do. Good luck.

Always good to get the warrenty. You never know what might happen.
To answer your other question: A computer is usually considered outdated when its about two years old. A computer is considered unusable when its around five.

I would guarantee it to be honest.....you don't know but some products break down a day after the warranty expires.

It depends whether you use the power supply or run off the battery, the batteries are usually the first things to wear out.

Well if the insurance says that it will offer a replacement then I would definitely do it.
