My friend recently bought a second-hand copy of the game, but he is not sure if the CD-Key will work. If someone has already used it to create an account, can he still do it, or will he need a new CD-Key?

If you look on the back it says "Currently, neither the game nor the online account can be transferred or sold."

You might be able to get a new cd-key from Blizzard but you will have to pay for it. This game is selling for only £15 new so it might less hassle to just buy a new copy.

Once online the subscription fees are between £7 - £9 per month.

The CD key is needed to install the game - It may or maynot then need to patch the game to the latest version - Just before Xmas there was a very large patch (425Mb).

If the game was then set up with an account I think you will either need to get those login details or set up a new account. If you use the existing account you may find that you get some nice level characters (but don't worry as each account can have up to 10 characters and you can always delete those you don't like.).

A new account can always be set up from http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ anyway.

I take it you know that there are monthly fees for playing WoW - its abouit $15 USD - between £9 - £11

Check out https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/menu.html or http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ and select the account links.

You can always change account names / passwords and email details from http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ anyway once you are set up.

Hope this helps !!!

Most of the MMORPG's give you a one-off only. Once used it's linked to that person UNLESS that person didn't actually sign up to the game itself, then your friend might be ok but i'd tell him to check on http://www.worldofwarcraft.com and ask them. I think they might be able to sell him a new key.
