When I was growing up (and it wasn't that long ago), I remember hearing "a man should always remove his hat when goiing inside." It showed a sign of respect. Now men wear baseball caps turned sideways and backwards and all other kinds of hats. It makes them look like they don't want to be inside and are ready to leave. Have manners gotten completely obsolute in this day and age?

I would think that they actually usually take off HATS that are worn for protection (warmth, dryness, etc.). They are not usually associated with being good looking.

However, baseball CAPS are typically worn for style. So, the guys might actually prefer how they look when they wear them. And want to be seen in them.

Women leave theirs on inside as well.

some men don't like to expose their bald head inside in front of people as well. some people just pull their hats off lightly and then put it back on as a gesture of politeness.
