Sounds like he needs to visit (or at least speak on the telephone) to his Dr.

yea I had the similar issue. Perhaps it is constipation. Hard stool can tear the lining of the rectal tissue...he should perhaps change his diet some, juices would help, he should drink more water as well. Ask him to see if he is having rough bowel movements where he has to push extremely hard or is uncomfortable if so, then that could be it. I changed my diet and I was no longer having the issue. Now if he's bleeding without going to the bathroom thats a different issue and he needs to get checked out because he could be internally bleeding somewhere.

Nothing to do with age, I had the same problem, its basically because he eats unhealthy and hot food e.g. drinks a lot of coffee and tea. You need to get him to drink cold milk, eat 7 fruits & a vegetable a day, white rice and chicken, also give him frozen yogurt, keep him away from all sweeties and crisps. He will get better in less than a week and it should stop. If not then consult with a doctor. Hope this helps because it helped me.

He must go back to his doctor today. Don't let him delay on this. There are many cause for his symptoms eg. piles, colitis, constipation and of course cancer. With his history, he cannot afford to delay.

Does he eat enough fruits/veggies? This can help to avoid being constipated, which can cause hemorrhoids.
Also, I would seriously call the Doctor & get a professional opinion. Honestly.
He's lucky to have you.

Agreed. It may well be nothing to worry about, but get him to a doctor now! Better safe than sorry.

Get him to see his GP without delay, he may think it's piles but you never know !. Men are buggers to ask for help. MAKE SURE HE GOES SOON.
I hope he'll be ok.
Take care
