I'm an American. I don't think that the punishment that Saddam got was extreme or not justified. It was much more humane than the deaths of the people that he executed and buried in mass graves in the 80's with Mustard Gas. His execution is the result of the Iraqi people standing up to an opressive government with the help of US, British and other International troops to begin a new government. Look back in history when an opressed society overthrows a dictator. The dictator is usually executed publically, if he isn't killed during the war, and the rebels are helped by well equipped militaries from countries that have something to gain by that leader being ousted from power. Aside from us looking at this as murder, he was tried by his peers, convicted on crimes that he committed, and he suffered the punishment outlined by the Iraqi Constitution. What kind of punishment should Osama BinLaden receive for his role in 9-11?

I think it was a good idea. He was way too much of a powerful, evil man and he'd probably find some way out and to hurt more people, as if he hasn't already. I personally think he should have been tortured to death like he has done to so many others, but that's just me. He was evil in the purest form and I'm glad he's gone.

I think it was a necessary step to winning this war. By hanging Saddam we showed the people of Iraq that a bad chapter in the countries history has come to a close. Now they can move on and start becoming more like the rest of the world through peace and democracy.

Anytime a person who mass murders millions and tortures thousands more is gone from this planet, the whole world benefits.
He had this wood chipper device that he put people in feet first if they defied him. He was a truly evil man and I'm glad he's gone.

Timing and way where bad but killing a dictator that was put in to power by the U.S. to just later be killed by the same people is kind of ironic if you ask me it could have be handled a different way in private and a more civilized way he did need to be punished for his actions and I do believe in the death penalty for murder and he was convicted of genocide so

It's not about whether Americans (or Canadians) are happy about it. Over 10,000 innocent Kurds were visciously murdered by Saddam Hussein. Justice was served.
Got news for you.... Saddam Hussein wasn't murdered. He was rightfully executed for his evil wrongdoings by the IRAQI justice system.

i don't agree with the decision simply because i don't think revenge should be taken to the point of death. i also think life-long imprisonment would have been harsher because he would have had so long to sit there and feel guilty and hopeless for a very long time. however, i realize that perhaps it brought comfort to people who suffered under him, and i respect that.

It was scary for him, I have seen the whole video of him hanging, and he bloody well deserved it, it didnt take long at all, they actualy pulled the leaver whilst he was still talking, and i think that is funny, I meen i shouldnt i know, but after what he did, his whole death was just funny, and deserving.
