When I was a kid my dad was always telling me and my brothers that children were a burden. That's probably why none of us want children now.

Because your curious....I don't want children for several, several reasons. One is based on how our society is. And....yes....I've heard before....well....your child could change something about the society. That may be so, but that is a hard thing to accomplish. Second one is that I have seen things and been through things as a child that no child in this world should ever go through and it has effected my ability to want children. Those would be two reasons.

I don't fit that profile, but I have a suggestion. I would guess that many of them have chosen not to have children because they live a life not conducive to raising children. For example, women who travel a lot, who have a very active social/work life, or who value their independence more than having a family. When you have children, the focus shifts from you and your partner to those children and their needs. Children don't necessarily ruin your quality of life, but they do drastically alter it, which is a change many women do not want.

The reasons I decided not to have any children are:
1. They cost to much money to raise them.
2. I love my freedom.
3.I don't like to be held down.
Also if I had kids, I can't do what I want and have to stay in the house mostly all the time. I just really love the freedom!!!

I myself have children, but I know several people that chose not to have children. In one's particular case, she knew that the career she had chosen would be demanding and it would not be fair to the child to be raised by a Nanny. She said that having children meant putting them first and foremost and in her line of work it would require her to leave the parenting to someone else, thus making her a bad parent by not being emotionally or physically available. She gets the enjoyment of being able to spoil her neices and nephews without the added drama of raising a teenager in today's society. (Her decision was made several years ago). In another's situation, she came from a large family and saw what a struggle life was for her parents and she opted to not have to worry about how she might have to feed a child should she become unemployeed and situations of that nature.

Maybe because the world population is 6.5 BILLION!!!
I had a fabulous childhood and I love children. But honestly, with so many millions of needy children in the world, how could I just bring one more mouth to feed.
I haven't adopted kids yet, so my money goes towards helping impovershed kids... but someday I will adopt - giving someone a chance they might never have had sounds wonderful...
And I can see myself prehaps wanting to feel pregant because it's part of womanhood... but that's just selfish... I'm not going to deny a currently living being for my own selfishness.

I like kids and all but I never want any. They just take too much time and I'm not that responsable. Besides, Earth is already waaaay too populated. People need to think about the kids without families rather than thinking about their own.
