This is a re-conditioned computer and when i try to validate it says the #'s don't jive. I tried to get a new product key to make it work but that didn't happen either. Short of paying for downloading a new windows XP, does anyone have any ideas?

When you say 'I tried to get a new product key to make it work' - was this a valid key or a hacked one? By your next statement 'Short of paying for downloading a new windows XP', I will assume a hack.

Listen - Microsoft is smarter than all of us. If you dont have a valid key that you purchased, then dont expect to get around it.

Lastly, when you say a 'reconditioned computer'; if you bought this computer from someone that DID have a legal version, you can call Microsoft and have your copy validated as long as you have some kind of proof to give them.

Contact whoever worked on your system and get them to send you a new product key.
