I have a shirt that is almost brand new (its been worn once) and I washed/dryed it and now its alot smaller than it was new. Its made out of cotton and polyester. I believe the blend is 60% cotton and 40% polyester. Which causes more shrinkage? Needless to say, I can't really wear it comfortably now. Thanks.

Cotton shrinks more.

Cotton is the culprit. Polyester is artificial and does not shrink. I have found out long ago to cool water wash and dry on low.

cotton is not man made, it for sure shrinks more, poly is man made... it dont shrink at all. if you want to buy clothes and save em from shrinking, look for shirts with less cotton or no cotton, and more poly...keep em out of dryer and wash on cold. its the heat from the water and dryer that is making it shrink, try and buy 50/50 blend or anything less than 50 cotton count.
