Sometimes you do need to. You need Java for things like:
Limewire
Videos
Live Video Streams
Games (Most Of Them Anyway)
I think you should go to www.java.com and download it again just to be sure that you have the latest version.

Some online games like Yahoo games and such. Limeware uses Java if you DL music etc.

If you don't update it you could start getting crashed websites. Just go ahead and download it, it only takes a few minutes and you don't have to reboot your computer most of the time.

It helps for some of your other programming to have your java kept updated. Otherwise, some of your programs that run your computer may tend to slow down, or even "hangup".

Try uninstalling both or at least limewire. Reboot your PC and reinstall. if you can try and install Java prior to installing limewire. But otherwise just uninstall and reinstall limewire itself. Good Luck hope that helps.
