That's a very big problem. Generally people want to win. There's plenty of adults that cheat too or sweep the pieces off the board when they're losing! Frustration caused by impatience can play a role too.

What would I do? Keep it fun and keep it short. Games must be fun, but you can't force kids to enjoy a game. If they seem reluctant or bored, go do something else.

Ask yourself: Why does the kid cheat in the first place? Is it because he gets sweeped off the board if he plays fair? He's the youngest. If he plays fair, give him a break: Give him half of your pieces so he has a fair chance.
If he cheats, abort the game IMMEDIATELY. Put the pieces in the box and don't say anything.

At 6 years old they understand what cheating is. I would stop playing the game for the day. Tell him it is because you caught him cheating. Tell him/her that you will play again tomorrow, but every time he cheats you will stop the game. He can't cheat if he has nobody to play with!

I agree with a previous post. When he cheats, immediately end the game and tell him that since he is cheating it is over. When the other players get upset, show him how the consequences of his actions effect others.

Maybe you can find an old fable about cheating and read it to him to put it in his perspective.

By telling him he can't play, or you won't play with him if he cheats, and then do it. A few games of him sitting out and he will get the idea.

Tell him that you automatically win when they cheat. Start the game over every time and they will get tired of it and hopefully start playing the right way to win.

You don't. My son still cheats especially when we play thumb wars, he's 9. Just don't condone it, let him know that it isn't the way to play, and that no one wants to play with cheaters. Over time they will realize this and listen to you. Be patient and good luck.
