Wake Up - Rage Against The Machine. They're also my favorite band of all time. More of a Hard Rock genre.
It's a political song bringing out the wrongs by the "machine" (USA). And it is oh so true.
Thanks for the thumbs down to whoever it was. At least I have my head on straight and know a thing or two about this country...

My favorite song of all time is one that probably nobody remembers. It's "Into The Night" by Benny Mardones. Such passion in that song! Don't know what category it would be in though. There's two songs by famous groups today that are "hidden" but terrific. Check out "Tied My Hands" by Seether, and "Better Than Me" by Hinder. Great songs!

smells like teen spirit by "Nirvana"
Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a song by American rock band Nirvana, and the first track and lead single from the band's 1991 breakthrough album Nevermind. Written by Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl and produced by Butch Vig, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is commonly regarded as the song that brought alternative rock and grunge music to prominence worldwide, and served as an anthem for Generation x.

I have two all time favorites: Love Train by the O'Jays..I guess it would be considered R&B/pop and not only is it a great tune the lyrics have a very powerful message....and Hotel California by the Eagles...amazing composition...a true work of art!!! (gotta love the harmonic guitars!!! Joe Walsh rocks!!)
