I know what Wikipedia is; or at least, the basics about it. But can anyone tell me, you know, ABOUT it. Like, extra things about it. Anything else about it. It doesn't matter what. Thank-you!!!

Wikipedia is basically an open source encyclopedia. Anyone is free to sign up for an account and submit information about a topic. The problem with this is that some people don't know anything about something yet they still want to edit a wikipedia entry on the subject. This normally results in a lot of misinformation. In a perfect world the people that know things would tell write them down on wikipedia so people that don't know those things can learn them. In the real world people that don't know things will act like they know things and misinform those that don't know things but are trying to learn things. A little added bit of information is that the name wikipedia came from a combination of the Hawaiian phrase wiki wiki which means quick quick and the word encyclopedia.

My college professors all forbade us to use it. I was told that it is just a collection of information that anyone can post and you can not predict the validity of it at all. I refuse to use it..
