seems to be, but probably isn't.

Yes I did.
Whatever myth busters might say, many scientific experiments have demonstrated that yawning is contagious. Nothing can be proven with one experiment, or even with many, but seeing someone yawn or thinking about yawning does seem to trigger yawns in a majority of people. Also, at least some researches say that yawning is contagious amongst chimpanzees.

Generally you yawn because of your are tired, which slows down your breathing so you yawn for more oxygen intake. ((Hiccups are the same,(but not for being tired) the body is telling you it needs more oxygen.))
Why others will yawn with you is because you and others you are closely working with in the same room will all take on the same breathing pattern. For some this is a too slow a pace of breathing and it will make them sleepy and they will yawn. A comfortable setting will make everyone relax and soon everyone is yawning.
My family has fun with it, especially playing cards. One will yawn and all start laughing since everyone will follow.

Yes...your question made me yawn.
Have you ever noticed that if you yawn in front of a baby, they'll yawn too? My kids did it for real yawns, but if I tried to fake one, they didn't end up yawning. Hmmm....

Such a great question! It probably isn't from a scientific standpoint, yet I always manage to yawn whenever someone else does. So bizarre!

From my perspective yeah it is. We all would like to relax and sleep since it is good for us. Seeing another person yawn instantly reminds us in our busy workday how tired our bodies are and its basically a moment to tell us that we're exhausted.
