sorry I may be old school but r u yr and all the rest of the sms lingo really isn't neccessary here buy yourself a dictionary!

I agree with you on that 1. But letters/words were shortened on sms messages because some phones only provided a certain amount of space for letters etc...
My first mobile i was only able to use 100 spaces and that was it, now it's a bit more than that.
But because of technology the youth of today have become poor spellers and it's actually not getting any better.

Maybe some people accessing this area are doing so via their cell phones, so it's not a stretch that they're using the same sms lingo to post their questions.

I've stopped carrying my mental Strunk & White a while ago. At least we're trying to write, even if it's pretty faulty.

Well it may not be a mobile phone, but it is a message board, more or less. One tends to be less picky about one's writing in such places. Plus, I hate to say, that is the way their term papers look also. Oh well.

Being a retired copy editor, I feel the same way. But I'm afraid proper grammar and spelling are a thing of the past (or should I say two things of the past).
