The publisher of the original material. To make an audio version, one must first seek permission and/or purchase the rights to do so.

I'd say the author of the book, who will probably have copyright on the book and all forms of broadcast of it. To transfer to audio will require a licence granting permission

The mechanical copyright belongs to the company that released that particular CD (or download etc) The intellectual copyrights belong to the author OR publishing house depending on how the book deal originated.
