Where did Weaver go??? Pitched for the Cardinals in the world series? I heard he left as a free agent. Is this true and who did he sign with???

Yeah Weaver is a free agent but his agent, Scot Boras, hasnt really been focusing his time on Jeff and his situation. I hope he signs back but I dont want the Cards to shell out huge money for a guy who did great for a half of a season. Dave Duncan could probably turn around a lot of other decent pitchers for prob half the money the club would have to give to Weaver

He's asking a big price as a free agent. He wants more money than Suppan. His agent is super agent Boras so that explains that. The Mets have gotten out of the race and it looks like it's down to the Cardinals and a small handful of other teams.

Weaver hasn't signed with anyone yet. He's apparently asking for 4 years/$40 mil. I doubt he gets that. He might get a 2-year deal worth near that much money from somebody, but I doubt it will be the Cardinals.

The Cardinals did sign Ryan Franklin and Resign Mark Mulder today.

He is a free agent and the cardinals do want him back, but at a discounted rate. I beleive if he signs with the Cards - it will be in the 4- 5 million dollar range for a one year contract

Odds are pretty good he'll resign with the Cards at a discount from the $10/year asking price he is currently throwing out to possible suitors.

Honestly, Weaver has good stuff but he's been overrated for much of his career. He tanked in Detroit (albeit with some awful Tigers teams), he washed out with the Yankees, he was decent at best with the Dodgers and God-awful with the Angels.

He pitched moderately down the stretch for an awful Cards squad that picked it up in time for the playoffs where he had one huge start that more-or-less is the sole rational for him trying to rape everyone who needs pitching at $10/year. He's worth Jason Marquis money...and not the money that the Cubs gave Marquis, but the money that Marquis is actually worth. We're talking like $3-$5 million/year AT BEST!!

A club source said it's "highly unlikely" that the New York Mets will take a chance on free agent pitcher Jeff Weaver.

Weaver is still a free agent. This story is as of Jan 8th.

The Cardinals will probably deal with Weaver once they hear back from Mulder which should be sometime today.

If Mulder doesn't stay they will more than likey have to resign Weaver after losing Suppan, Marquis, and Mulder.

That rotation as of today:
C. Carpenter
A. Reyes
K. Wells
A. Wainwright
B. Thompson

He's not signed with anyone. Odds are he'll re-sign with the Cardinals, where he started to have some success under Dave Duncan. Plus, he'll be the ace of the staff now that everyone else is gone. I'm a Cubs fan so it's nice to see we have a chance this year...lol....at least on paper.
