firstly, FYI. I'm an atheist. so my point of view might be different from most people.
i often finds people get married mainly because they wants to justify sex. mostly women because they're are the one who always says bout having the perfect sex at the eve of the first night.
but for me, i find marriage is about commitment, no longer bout finding mr/ms perfect, but picking one and be commited to it.
Why do people do that? i think because people wants to discover a new meaning to their life. no longer about living it yourself, but living it together with someone till death do you part, and people who manages to do it will look the world and life in a more enlighted kind of way.
basically people get married because they want to test themselves, whether they are ready to walk the tough part of life.

People marry for way too many reasons these days. Its truly not a question that is easy to answer. As we grow older, we see things different and we begin to settle. But, for the sake of whats real and should be practice by all !!!

Because it's a habit. People don't marry because they love each other. It's because society has been built around the habit of getting married.
Love is about emotions, and marriage is about physical paper called marriage certificate. I believe that marriage is wrongfully thought as a way of validating love in the form of what is commonly called "commitment to the relationship". Your love for your partner cannot be strengthened by "marriage". Your lack of interest in the love that was cannot be saved by marriage. So, marriage has no value in love.

2) Because they want green cards or some other advantages
3) Because they watched too many pink movies and think marriage makes sense or makes them happier
