We certainly do not know many things concerning the earth and its forces, as you indicate. But it would be valuable to view the context of Isaiah's expressions,as he was under divine inspiration.
-His preaching covered a period 778-732 BCE. It culminated in the year 607 BCE , where Jehovah used the Babylonian for a complete discipline & punishment for the entire nation. There were faithful ones, that maintained their loyalty to God--despite being exiled(Daniel, Ezekiel etc.--and a remnant of Israelites.)
-The text you viewed dealt with a situation that God warned Israel about for a long period of time, their disgusting waywardness. Please note:(Isaiah 1:10-17) “10 Hear the word of Jehovah, YOU dictators of Sod´om. Give ear to the law of our God, YOU people of Go·mor´rah. 11 “Of what benefit to me is the multitude of YOUR sacrifices?” says Jehovah. “I have had enough of whole burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed animals; and in the blood of young bulls and male lambs and he-goats I have taken no delight..... 13 Stop bringing in any more valueless grain offerings. Incense—it is something detestable to me. New moon and sabbath, the calling of a convention......15 And when YOU spread out YOUR palms, I hide my eyes from YOU. Even though YOU make many prayers, I am not listening; with bloodshed YOUR very hands have become filled. 16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the badness of YOUR dealings from in front of my eyes; cease to do bad. 17 Learn to do good; search for justice; set right the oppressor; render judgment for the fatherless boy; plead the cause of the widow.””
-There are many expressions used in the Bible to represent God's goodwill, disapproval, disgust etc. Nature being used to express such are throughout the Bible, that may have nothing to do with the actual forces of the earth.
--As you most likely know the book of Revelation must be looked at with 2 distinct views, 1. The literal view & 2. the symbolic, figurative or sign view. Please note: The very opening has to do with the literal view, because of the individuals listed:
(Revelation 1:1-2) “A Revelation to John 1 A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John, 2 who bore witness to the word God gave and to the witness Jesus Christ gave, even to all the things he saw. . .”
Note please, that the Apocolyptic vision literally came down from several sources--Jehovah God to Christ-to the angel to John under inspiration of the holy spirit(God's active force) but it did come through signs or figurative presentations. As we know when we see a sign on the road with curved lines we know what lies ahead are curved road, thus we are to be cautious.
-So the fear(total respect) we all should have is having the displeasure of the True God. Fear of the earth and its reprisal for the way we have treated it in comparison to the respect we should have for God, is like fearing the touch of a lady bug on our body as compared to being swallowed by a great white shark.
-The earth is indeed powerful in all its forces, but can you imagine the intensity of the one behind every conceivable force that has been discovered--it is awesome beyond belief, in my opinion.
The force to be dealt with is the situation that lies before mankind,--Armaggedon. No this is not brought about by all the armies meeting in the valley of Megeddo(the area is too small) It is indeed a earth wide(total war as has never been experienced) situation that The Almighty and His Son, Christ have arranged, please note:
Rev. 16:14-16 -"They are in fact, expressions inspired by demons and perform signs, and they go forth to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.”...16 And they gathered them together to the place that is called in Hebrew Har–Ma·ged′on"
(The symbolic nature that is described at in vs. 13 represent unclean or false propaganda-- , that has led the nations to such a precarious situation)--
--There is nothing symbolic about that unavoidable encounter with the 'kings" and "God the Almighy--that situation will not be altered because as part of the reason as stated at:
(Revelation 11:18) “18Â But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time for the dead to be judged, and to give [their] reward to your slaves the prophets and to the holy ones and to those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to TO BRING TO RUIN(my caps) those ruining the earth.””
Note litearally how that FEAR will be felt, once it is totally known where the destruction will be coming from:
(Revelation 6:15-17) “15Â And the kings of the earth and the top-ranking ones and the military commanders and the rich and the strong ones and every slave and [every] free person hid themselves in the caves and in the rock-masses of the mountains. 16Â And they keep saying to the mountains and to the rock-masses: “Fall over us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17Â because the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?””
Please also note any pretext of claiming that finally the nations have brought about 'peace'(which they will declare) in their ever magical "peace process" is and will be revealed as a total sham. Nothing will stop that totally unavoidable confrontation. Please note--the certainty.
(1 Thessalonians 5:3) “3 Whenever it is that they are saying: “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape.. . .”
The following text shows indeed there will be survivors of that God oriented intervention, and they will be the start of "the meek ones will inherit the earth." Mathew 5.
(Revelation 7:9) “9Â After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands.”(one does not have to be in heaven to stand before God's throne and his son--the "earth is God's footstool")....13...: “These who are dressed in the white robes, who are they and where did they come from?” 14Â So right away I said to him: “My lord, you are the one that knows.” And he said to me: “These are the ones that COME OUT (my caps) of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. "
-What is it they come out of --the storm of Armaggedon, as with any storm we survive.?---Thanks for your question.
