If you've only just started the job, then filing can be a great way to look through all the recently-used documents and get to know the company a little better - this may help if you want a career move or give you leverage to ask for more work, especailly if you take the time and trouble to understand...
Howver, if you're doing it as part of an existing job and already have a grasp of the content, I agree it can be very dull... Use it as 'me time' and think about your bloke, your favourite book or film, or plan what you'll have for dinner tonight...

If you could earn an extra income without it affecting what you currently do, would that be of interest?
I am sure that if you had an extra interest then you could think about it as you do your filing, then when its income became large enough you could abandon the filing job.

i agree with inventing your own secret filing system - file the A's under B and the C's under D etc.
Greta fun when other try to find a file, cant, go mad and then you can go and find the file - saying it was there all the time.
When these people are sacked for insanity you can then have their jobs and all will be well in your world!

Try and beat a certain time. If your competitive it should help you keep interested. Promise yourself some sort of treat if you beat the time you have set yourself. Hope this helps.
