Usually, you don't see a whole lot of the personal lives of the characters, but we are getting every single detail of their relationship, so I'm thinking it's part of a mission.

I don't think so. I think they're using that relationship to build the relationship he has with the Director - she's like his mentor/muse when he talks about the relationship, especially since he's always been really selfish and shallow when it came to sex. They're trying to show a different side of him because he's always been such a dog.

I think that it is just something else to interest women into watching the show. Plus in the past, they have made us very aware that the others have had love interest.

I think the relationship is real,and I'm amused by how Ziva & McGee tease him about it-even though he hasn't really said anything about it.
