The history of the cage match dates back to 1937 and has had the rules changed several times throughout the years. Now days, all of the professional wrestling companies use one form or another of this brutal practice.
A cage match is when a huge cage is put over the wrestling ring. The wrestlers are put into this cage and the cage door is closed.
The object of this match is to escape the cage. This can be done by climbing over the cage or exiting through the door. Usually no rules are used when trying to exit the cage. It can become quite bloody as far as the sport goes.
The cage match is always used to settle a grudge between two wrestlers and also to set up for championship bouts.
