Has anyone used ableton Live to make beats before? IF so is it any good?

I use Ableton Live and it is very good. It can make a loop fit into a song and has effects too. A few loops can be used to make a song in a short while. Sony Acid comes in a free version and it's files can be imported into Ableton. Some music professionals use Ableton in their shows. It also has a synthesiser and sampler function, a must have for most composers. Free VST instruments are available on the web too as well as loops. There is a free Ableton demo here.
